Abstract
We propose mode scrambling in combination with reduced-search maximum-likelihood detection for performance enhancement of few-mode fiber transmission systems impaired by mode-dependent loss. Significant reach improvements are demonstrated for 3×- and 6×158-Gb/s MDM QPSK-OFDM transmission.
