Abstract :
A novel method of external calibration for polarization radar is proposed for accurate estimation of the backscattering matrix of radar objects. By using the reciprocity theorem for backscattering from a known reflector the calibration procedure can be simplified, the influence of background reflectors decreased and the requirements of passive reference reflectors lowered.
