  • Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. Cyber Laser was established in February of 2000 for the development of laser and optoelectronics industry in 21st century by three laser researchers. I describe how I started the laser venture business in Japan. I also summarize the Japanese venture business and its problems in this session. We believe that the optoelectronics industry will become the main important industry in 21st century as the electronics industry in last century. Lasers were invented and established in the 1960s but it took 40 years for lasers to become useful technologies for large-size industry and business such as telecommunication and semiconductor processes. The full-scale profitable laser utilization by mankind has just started. Our business has been focused on the laser as light source that corresponds to an engine of automobile industry. We will not only provide all kinds of specialized laser to our customers trying to develop the new laser market but also provide the best solution to solve their technical problems. There are many potential applications for lasers but laser business is still difficult. There is no matured supporting system for hatching venture companies in Japan. There are few technology transfer examples from University and national institutes in Japan. There are many restrictions in business.
