Abstract :
A view into the COST 231-Walfisch-Ikegami path loss model is given. It is a well-known model, applicable for the estimation of path loss in the UHF band for mobile cellular networks. The history and the roots of the model are presented, encompassing the contributions from the various research groups that contributed to the model, namely Henry Bertoni´s one. It is followed by its description in comparison to the ones on which it is based, i.e., Walfisch and Bertoni, and Ikegami et al.. Afterwards, a number of suggestions, corrections, extensions and add-ons that have been presented are addressed, namely concerning geometries that were not considered in the original formulation.
