Abstract :
The Cambridge Interactive TV Trial offers a unique framework for experimentation by organisations with an interest in the development of a commercially viable interactive TV industry. This paper describes the organisational subdivision of the trial into two consortia with primary interests in technology and service provision respectively; outlines the technology infrastructure currently being developed to provide a platform for experimentation with new service types and business ideas; and discusses techniques deployed within the current stage of the trial to manage the delivery and decoding of MPEG audio/visual streams
