Abstract
This paper proposes a new hybrid multi-user receiver structure based on parallel interference cancellation (PIC) and improved genetic algorithm (GA). Firstly, the traditional 3-stage PIC receiver is used to obtain the coarse detection result. Then, the improved GA is proposed to evolve this coarse result to achieve more accurate detection. To implement the improved GA, a simple but effective population initialization method is proposed based on the concept of Hamming distance, which can make full use of the information delivered by the input chromosome. Simulation results show the proposed hybrid receiver converges quickly, and can achieve lower bit error ratio (BER) and better near-far resistant ability.
