Abstract :
As a silicon photonics light source, a lens-integrated surface-emitting laser (LISEL) was integrated on a silicon-waveguide platform for the first time. Excess loss due to misalignment of +/-5 Pm between the LISEL and silicon waveguide is only 1.5 dB.
