Abstract
Using the capabilities of the agents in an electronic marketplace needs an architecture that can respond to the requirements of this system. One of the most controversy architectures that is claimed to be respondent to many Web environments is SOA. Reviewing the literature on the agents, virtual markets and SOA, we had some Delphi panels with some professionals to testify how much SOA provides the requirements of a virtual agent-based electronic marketplace (VABEM). Some characteristics of SOA that fulfills the requirements of a VABEM are loosely coupled, network-addressable interface, location-transparent, modular, dynamically bound, platform free architecture and semantic Web
