This paper discusses the development of the current environmental modeling systems, and analyzes the inadequacies of these systems, and points out that these systems lack either a full range of modeling support for environmental modeling elements or the integration of various spatial information processing and analysis methods. Based on the analysis of environmental problems Conceptual Modeling elements in the Environmental Modeling System, this paper defines four kinds of model components, namely, Context Modeling Components, Model Components, Model Link Components and Data Entity Components, and describes in detail the related component interfaces of each kind of components. In the design process of component interfaces, the various modeling needs of environmental modeling elements and the integration requirement of various spatial information processing and analysis methods are taken into account.
