Abstract :
The purpose of this report is to propose a Common Modular Architecture (CMA) approach, adopting an open system architecture (OSA) idea for major functions, and applying it via the subfunction(s) of that major function. The architecture also incorporates the major function output interface via the platform´s OSA to the maximum extent possible. This paper provides the application of this subfunction CMA to the Global Positioning System (GPS) function which enables commonality and growth to meet existing and emerging requirements
