Abstract
The efficient management, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex local area network infrastructures requires correct and up-to date configuration data to be available to network personnel. Especially for tasks that call for physical changes at various places in the infrastructure, such as installing a workstation in a staff room, making this information available onsite, is not trivial. MONAD is a prototype mobile data recording and visualisation system that simplifies the management of the physical network configuration by providing network personnel with ubiquitous access to computer-based network management support. This paper gives an overview on MONAD, its architecture and the strategies for user guidance
