Abstract :
The semantic Web incorporates information with well-defined meanings. It enables users to query Web information according to the semantic meanings of information rather than the occurrence of keywords. This article shows that the scope of the semantic Web technologies can readily be extended from ontology-based knowledge query to knowledge-based planning, and demonstrate this planning capability with an implemented, semantic Web planner, called OntoPlan. We describe a real-world application, i.e., an online advice-giving system for personal computer configuration.
