Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to develop a test stand to characterize the various mechanisms for transition to arcing in solid armature railguns and to develop an electrothermal flyer plate launching system. Presented are the design considerations for producing a railgun test stand and the design and simulation results for a flyer plate launcher.
