Abstract
The approach of Chinese high-speed rail era provides a wide platform for the development of modern murals. As the first window to meet domestic and foreign guests, the murals in high-speed rail VIP lounge are a comprehensive display of the local regional characteristics and features in the railway station. Murals are more than material space form that appears in VIP lounge, her charm and success in VIP lounge lie in the fact whether she can build an artistic form matching the regional culture and spirits and whether she can organically converse and positively interact with the aesthetic needs of her spectators. All of these become new challenges that mural creation must face. Based on the association between the high-speed rail VIP lounge and mural art, this paper conducts a research into the positioning and function of murals in high-speed rail VIP lounge with the basic characteristics of the mural art as starting point and in combination with the design case of the murals in the VIP lounge of Chengdu East railway station.
