Abstract
Production systems are tending to be more and more complex. Thus, the engineering of such systems creates increasing requirements to the engineers. To enable the engineers to improve engineering process quality in recent times the use of simulation techniques established. By its application engineers can validate engineering result correctness. But up to now within particular engineering phases different simulation tools are used. In addition the created and exploited models are usually neither compatible nor consistent with each other. To overcome this limitation in this paper a modular, adaptable, and extensible simulation framework will be presented applicable along different phases of the engineering process of production systems based on common engineering process artifact libraries.
