Abstract :
Two species of deepwater snappers in the bottomfish fishery in Hawaii have been depleted in the main Hawaiian Islands. The depth at which these fish live has impeded the collection of data necessary to design effective management strategies to restore their populations. However, multibeam surveys in Hawaii combined with in situ submersible and ROV observations and GIS provide a means to obtain that data. This paper presents the application of this method on a bottomfish habitat site and the types of information that can be acquired
