Abstract :
Based on the characteristics analysis of human and computer during the innovation process, a product shape innovation design method using genetic algorithm is proposed. In this method, the spline is applied to describe the contour of product, which defines the product form. Genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the points that constitute the spline, and then new shapes are created. The designer can select the satisfying product forms with the visual interface and actualize the product shape innovation design with human-computer interaction. Case study shows that the method can improve the efficiency of the creative design, and it is feasible and practical.
