Abstract :
This paper presents a review of decentralized self-managing concept for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs which I´m currently researching. Compared to existing IEEE 802.11 management concepts, where a central node computes and disseminates defined management information, decentralized operation of researched system improves reliability by eliminating central points of failure. Self-management feature of researched concept should be achieved without any kind of external influence, so access points have to be autonomous. Such management system must continuously seek for opportunities to improve its own performance and productivity. Moreover, it must be able to adapt changes detected by its members. The expected benefit of decentralized self-managing WLAN system should be achieved in terms of high flexibility, scalability, reliability, performance and scalability
