Abstract
An iterative threshold decoder for convolution codes, with large constraint length, is developed which uses soft decisions from the channel output. These soft-values carry information about the reliability of demodulator-decisions and are used by the iterative decoder between iterations. Using soft decisions for iterative threshold decoders increases coding gain. Simulations results are shown.
