  • Abstract
We present a study devoted to the utilization of elastic Lamb waves in structural heath monitoring for damage detection in composite material. We pay attention to the detection of these high dispersive and multimode waves in large range specimen. In contrast to known methods using piezoelectric, fiber Bragg grating and Fabry-Perot interferometer sensors, we deal with spatially distributed transduction based on a fiber optic coil. This method offers an omnidirectional sensitivity characteristic end high immunity against electromagnetic interferences. Comsol finite element method (FEM) is used to demonstrate the detection capacity of Lamb waves along large ranges using the omnidirectional fiber optic sensor.
