Abstract :
The construction of visual media is an important part in virtual environment. In this paper, we describe the details of image-based visual media construction. The construction has two parts: one is the construction of visual surrounding environment (VSE), and the other is the construction of 3D objects in the VSE. For the construction of VSE, panorama technology is used. We use an improved four-step algorithm based on SIFT features to build the VSE. For the construction of 3D object, silhouette-based 3D object reconstruction method is adopted. We mainly introduce the process of visual hull construction and texture mapping. To improve the reality of reconstructed 3D object, we add the texture to its 3D model by computing minimum angle value of normal vectors between images and triangular patches. As a result, we apply the constructed VSE and reconstructed 3D objects to a computer game to enhance the reality of the game environment visually.
