Abstract :
Within a wireless sensor networks (WSN), network topology and connectivity is one of the key elements that need to be known in order to perform fault and isolation detection. Many of the faults observed in real WSN (link change, nodes switched off and reboot), create dynamic topology; it is important to understand the occurrence of such dynamic changes within network topologies as they can result in network partitions, isolation and a general degradation of network performance. Intellectus constitutes a first step towards automated online dynamic topology detection and classification of faults. Control change is the key of the Intellectus methodology, and involves each node monitoring local state change and communicating this to the user side in order that localized changes may be fused to derive macro level network understanding. Spatial and temporal correlations from the local decision of every sensor nodes can provide a global overview of the changes in the topology network.
