Abstract :
A global algorithm for finding a geodesic joining given two points on a Riemannian manifold has recently been developed. It is simple to implement, and works well in practice, with no need for an initial guess. An optimal control problem is much more general than finding a geodesic. Nevertheless, a generalization seems now possible, based on recent numerical experiments
