  • Abstract
    In order to improve the properties of directionality, frequency band partition, and shift-invariance of the classical two-band discrete wavelet transform, we propose a new wavelet transform construction by concatenating 2D M-band undecimated wavelet transform with undecimated checkerboard-shaped filter banks in this paper. In the 2-D case, it provides one lowpass subband and 2(M2-1) directional highpass subbands at each scale. Experimental results show that the proposed tansform achieves better denoising performance than the methods using 2-band and 4-band undecimated wavelet transform.
