Abstract :
In this paper, a thin vertical polarization antenna for 800 MHz band cellular system is described. The influence of radome is confirmed and both resonant frequency and bandwidth are changed by radome. It is verified that the radome behaves as dielectric substance and it contributes to antenna miniaturization. Utilizing radome, antenna miniaturization is achieved. The resonant frequency is shifted 30 MHz (3.6%) lower by the radome and the bandwidth is 7.5%. On the other hand, the radiation pattern remains unchanged with or without radome and the loss is almost negligible. The diameter of designed antenna is 40 mmf at 800 MHz which is thinner than that of present base station antenna. In the future, in-phase-feeding collinear array will be considered in order to obtain more higher gain.
