Abstract
An analysis of 12 performance metrics for ADCs is presented, using more than 60 ADCs from IEEE publications. The goal is to determine a metric that would better evaluate the performances of ADCs. The metrics were compared with charts and the most valuable observations are reported. We propose to refine some existing metrics by using a power ratio to represent the resolution. The ENOB and ERBW are showed as more representative parameters than the stated resolution and the sampling frequency.
