Abstract
An integrated EIC control system consisting of a motor drive (electrical) control system (E), an instrumentation control system (I), and a process computer control system (C) has been developed and applied to the reheating furnace of a hot strip mill. This system has a variety of operational functions and provides a higher level of control than the existing conventional system. It has allowed the hardware components and process inputs/outputs to be integrated. The cost of constructing the reheating furnace system is thus reduced.<>
