Abstract
Testing for RF EMC susceptibility at microwave frequencies up to 40 GHz has always been a difficult and expensive process, high power and fragile TWT amplifiers were almost always employed. There are also further difficulties with leveling the field, directing the beam and determining the EUT failure point. This paper describes a fresh approach that has been applied to these problems by utilizing a focused and highly steer-able antenna system, along with solid state amplifiers, to produce a new accurate, stable and transportable susceptibility system from 2 to 40 GHz at fields of up to 200 V/m.
