Abstract
The importance of proper modeling of the characteristics of loads in distribution system analysis is being increasingly appreciated. A quadratic model of a radial distribution system that facilitates easy incorporation of the commonly used constant impedance, constant power, and constant current load types in any combination is developed. The influence of the load characteristics on maximum power transfer and voltage instability are calculated for the general case of normalized system representation
