Abstract :
Plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) battery chargers and wind turbines (WTs) can pose harmonic problems for utilities, despite their environmental and economic advantages. In this paper, decoupled harmonic power flow-based program is developed to analyze the harmonic impact due to PEVs and WTs. Our numerical results confirm the well-known fact that power concentrated PEV chargers and WTs will cause excessive harmonic distortion problems if no harmonic filters were installed. A sensitivity factor is proposed to locate the harmonic sources and illustrated on the IEEE 123 test case. It is verified that the buses with high sensitivity factors cause large harmonic distortions.
