Abstract
With growing scale of software, software architecture is becoming more complex and is hard to manage and control. Service Component Architecture (SCA) offers the supports for improving the complexity. However, few approaches address the complexity metric for SCA. In this paper, we propose a complexity metric based on SCA specification. The metric is composed of three parts that are employed respectively to measure the complexity of component, dependence, and composite of SCA. With the help of the metric, a bottom-top measuring process from component to system can fulfill the evaluation for SCA complexity. The proposed metric is characterized with the simplicity and practicality. Finally, an experiment is given to show the simplicity and practicality of the metric.
