Abstract :
Handling electric equipment may cause currents in the body. Methods and measures to protect people against the risks of these currents are accepted worldwide. However, the safety and health when exposed to electromagnetic fields causing also currents in the body, is controversial. The actual guidelines are using safety factors (SF) which are conservative to protect people. We propose the introduction of a health factor (HF) to cope with problems such as long term effects and the precautionary principle.
