  • Abstract
We present a real time implementation of stereovision using correlation technics on a parallel SIMD line-processor, SYMPATI2/Openvision designed by LETI/CEA Saclay, IRIT Toulouse and commercialized by Centralp Lyon. The stereovision method used in this study is based on a previous CNES and INRIA work (exploration of the planet Mars by an autonomous vehicle). We simplified and parallelize the CNES/INRIA method by using very simple but efficient correlation functions particularly well-adapted to an implementation on a SIMD type architecture. Then, an evaluation of the next generation of parallel computers designed by CEA and SAT, emphasizes our expectations for real time performance improvements
