Abstract :
We propose an efficient algorithm for lossless compression of ultrasound sensor data. The algorithm is primarily designed to operate on the transducers RF data after the analog-to-digital converter and before the receiver beamformer. Nevertheless, it could be used after the beamformer if high correlation exists between successive channels. The proposed algorithm exploits the redundancy in the transducers data to significantly reduce the data throughput. It could be implemented in a low-power mode which does not require any multiplications. The effectiveness of the algorithms is established using simulated ultrasound signals.
