Abstract :
In this paper, a Simplified Particle Swarm Optimization (SPSO) with Proportional-Integral Proportional-Derivative (PI-PD) controller is proposed for unstable processes. SPSO is used to determine the global best and the local best position within a search space. Complete search space is divided into small sub-search spaces. In each subspace, calculate the global minima and local minima and take the minimum of all i.e. minimum of complete search space. This process is done by minimum global and local best position with random position and velocity and estimated the controller parameter. For stabilizing the process model over conventional PID controller, PD controller is placed in a feedback loop. SPSO tuning procedure is done in two parts: first to estimate the PD controller parameter and fix it then estimate the value of PI controller parameter. Simulation result shows that the proposed method is more efficient as compare to other tuning method.
