Abstract :
In this paper a Matlab tool about non isolated power converters like Buck, Buck-Boost and Boost is to present. We chose to implement this tool in order to help the students to understand in detail the functionality of this basic power converters and the limitation imposed by their designs. The proposed tool can be used either as an educational software tool or by switching mod power supply designers. The Matlab tool is based on the mathematical equations that can be described in their functionality depending of states of switching. In our approach, a minimal number of input conditions are needed. Graphical solution for current, output voltage and load power in transient or steady state regime are plotted. Another particularity of this tool is represented by the functionality, the users is allowed to choose the operating regime: continuous conduction mode (CCM) or discontinuous conduction mode (DCM).
