Abstract
This paper reports on the design of a receiver at X-band which is configured using a double superheterodyne scheme with linear FM pulse compression and offers high performance features of wide front-end bandwidth with low overall noise figure, large spurious free dynamic range, high order of image rejection and accurate post-IF I & Q processor with built-in RF test capability. The packaging is such that the receiver meets the severe environmental requirements of airborne applications. Though industrial components are used the design construction with the use of super-component technology such that the overall unit meets the applicable military specifications.
