Abstract :
Electromagnetic waves from the lower radio frequencies up through the optical spectrum can generate a myriad of effects and responses in biological materials at high radiation intensities, producing burns, cataracts chemical change, etc. Biological effects have been reported at lower radiation intensities, but it is not now known if low level effects are harmful. Most of the effects are not harmful under controlled conditions, and can thereby be used for therapeutic purposes and to make useful diagnostic measurements. The problem of the elements of a cellular radiomobile system penetrating materials and the resultant internal power absorption is approached from theoretical viewpoints. A comparison is made between the frequency of the Global Mobile System (GMS) for communications and the frequency of medical diagnostics. The transmission-line-matrix (TLM) method is applied to solve the problems of the field and absorption intensity with emphasis upon the general problems of microwaves. The results are discussed in terms of the field and absorption intensity effects of microwaves in biological tissues. Some results showing the effects of (GMS) and the medical diagnostic frequencies are discussed
