Abstract :
Current pharmacological therapy for Parkinson´s disease loses its usefulness over time. Recently, pallidotomy, a surgical treatment for many of the symptoms of Parkinson´s, has been re-investigated. This procedure requires localization of a small region within the globus pallidus. In this paper, the authors present a simple mathematical analysis of spontaneous neural activity which has been used to refine targeting derived from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
