Abstract
Up to present no publication has the detailed description of the cross-comparison between the two sensor imagery, ASTER and ETM+. Especially in the Landsat-7 ETM + Scan Line Corrector off (SLC-off) and Landsat-5 TM image quality increasingly degraded, there is an urgent need to find the replacement data source. Therefore the complementary study between ASTER and Landsat will have an important practical significance. The paper was dived into three aspects to conduct the comparison: orbit characteristic, sensor scanning mode and imagery spectral characteristic.
