Abstract :
This paper describes the results of a three-year project for the development of high-tech tools for education and their application to an undergraduate electrical engineering circuit theory course. The project included the development and introduction of a wide range of World-Wide-Web and multimedia based techniques, redesign of the laboratory experience, and a methodology for the assessment of student achievement, as required by ABET 2000. Among the innovations in the use of multimedia are: the use of a "high-tech" multimedia classroom equipped with high-intensity computer screen projectors, Elmo three-dimensional overhead projectors, video recorders and other modern facilities; and the use of sophisticated Web-based software which provided electronic virtual classrooms, libraries, chat rooms, and demonstration and class reference material.
