Abstract
The design of software for automatic calculation of uncertainty is described. Using a mathematical model of a measurement, expressions for uncertainty can be derived, establishing the sensitivity of a result to any variation in the uncertain input terms. We show how software suitable for measurement systems can be designed to automate the evaluation of uncertainty
