  • Abstract
In this paper, we introduce the BISC (Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing) decision support system (DSS) as an alternative for ranking and predicting the risk for problems which utilize an imprecise and subjective process. The BISC DSS\´s key features are: (i) intelligent tools to assist decision makers in assessing the consequences of decisions made in an environment of imprecision, uncertainty and partial truth, and in providing a systematic risk analysis, (ii) intelligent tools to assist decision-makers in answering "what-if" questions, examining numerous alternatives very quickly and finding the values of inputs required to achieve a desired level of output, and (iii) intelligent tools to be used with human interaction and feedback to achieve a capability to learn and adapt over time.
