Abstract :
High system throughput and fairness among the users seem always two contradictory aspects in multi-user system. In multi-cell environment, the intense interference from neighboring cell sharpens the contradiction. In this paper, technique of random beamforming is used not only to avoid the intense interference statistically but also alleviate the contradiction. Fairness performance is further improved with appropriate scheduling schemes without much loss of average system throughput. A sum-contentment based scheduling is provided. Comparing with some other scheduling schemes, we find that with the aid of proper scheduling, random beamforming techniques can offer remarkable compromise between throughput and fairness in multi-user system
