Abstract :
In conclusion, we have demonstrated a remote scheme for achieving single-mode operation and switching in a gain-switched laser diode (LD) with self-seeding from an external fiber grating by optical pulse trains with a peak power of 1 mW and repetition rate varying from 115.2 MHz to 3168 MHz. Enhanced self-seeding ranges of 3 MHz with side-mode suppression ratios better than 15 dB were achieved. The switching of the LD was realized with the power ratio of an on/off power ratio of the dominant mode as high as 19 dB.
