Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The author examines a segment of the overall electrical industry that exists and flourishes, largely, without rules or standards, the control panel industry. Specifically, he addresses the codes and standards that are in place and should be adhered to in the design and assembly of control panels. He puts emphasis on those common mistakes that can lead to potential personnel hazards and/or reduced reliability. He identifies hazards and discusses the responsibilities of the inspection authority, control panel builder, and equipment specifiers. He examines various codes and standards and their weaknesses as well as common design mistakes.<>
