Abstract :
Summary form only given. A preliminary study of ions produced in the pseudospark discharge has been performed. The ion beam current is inferred from the axial current waveforms measured inside the hollow cavity by a Rogowski coil and a Faraday cup. Time-integrated beam profiles are measured by means of a CR-39 nuclear track detector and a radiachromic film. Under certain conditions, the ion beam is found to be well-collimated down to 100 /spl mu/m in diameter.
