Abstract
This paper presents an I/O acceleration technology for network computing: iSCSI transparent reliable multicast (iTRM) protocol. The iTRM protocol introduces double I/O paths for iSCSI network computing system: the multicast parth transmitting shared data and the iSCSI parth transmitting iSCSI PDU. The iTRM protocol extends the definition of iSCSI protocol to interpret the multicast session announcement. The iTRM introduces a transparent agent to monitor the loading of storage server and decide when to launch the multicast session. Test results show that, the iTRM protocol boosts the performance of parallel I/O operation for few client hosts, and enhance the stability of the network computing system.
