Abstract
This paper shows the advantage of the rotor overhang structure of the 1-phase line start permanent magnet (LSPM) motor for concentration of the air gap flux density. For performance estimation, the DQ equivalent circuit is constructed by 3D static FEA and the circuit parameters are compared with conventional model without overhang on the condition that both models have the same volume of permanent magnet (PM)
