Abstract :
Finite element-artificial transmitting boundary method is employed here to treat the near-field scattering of a cylindrical wave from an irregular cylinder. A comparison is made between this method and the analytical one. To show the validity and usefulness of the present approach, several examples of the irregular object scattering are presented. It is proved that the method can not only produce clear physical pictures, but efficiently handle many complicated scattering problems
